What to Do in the Greater Boston Area This Weekend!

July 11, 2020

Sharing is caring!

Boston is what many would call an all-American city, so well-known that it’s even been the setting for several famous movies and TV series, including “Good Will Hunting,” “Cheers,” and “Boston Legal.” Residents of Boston also typically boast a very distinct accent and have their own specialty soup, the world-famous Boston clam chowder!

When traveling to Boston, you might already have a full schedule of attractions to visit and sights to see. However, there is so much to see and do in the greater Boston area that you can easily overlook some of its finest offerings! Before you decide that your itinerary is already full, or if you just need a few additional ideas of what to do in the greater Boston area, check out this quick list of some fun spots you won’t want to overlook.

The Old North Church

This famed Episcopal church in Boston offers stunning, historic architecture in true New England style, as well as carvings and busts of many church figures. The church is also the starting point for the world-renowned ride of Paul Revere, who warned his neighbors of the British landing and invasion that began the American Revolutionary War. If you love architecture, American history, or old-world churches, be sure to visit the Old North Church when in Boston.

Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum

The Boston tea party is itself part of American history, when the pilgrims dumped an entire shipment of tea into the Boston Harbor as an act of protest and demonstration against taxes imposed on them at that time. Today, the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum offers a look at that event with live reenactments, multimedia exhibits about the history of that act, and an entire tearoom! For those looking to learn more about the start of American history and its first steps toward independence from Britain, be sure to visit the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum.

Castle Island

When you’re ready to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful Boston weather and a great view of the harbor, be sure visit Castle Island. A small peninsula off the shore of the Boston Harbor, Castle Island offers a stunning view of the water as well as several places for swimming. There is also a historic fort on the island that provides a good backdrop for photos or a nice place for the kids to explore. With over 20 acres of land, you’re sure to enjoy your time on Castle Island.
